Pork Crown Roast

Pork Crown Roasts are a favorite around the holidays but should be enjoyed all year long. . When prepared correctly this is a beautiful roast.   This is one of those roast that everyone should try once in their lives.

In the fall, this roast can be stuffed using an Apple Dressing with Butternut or Acorn Squash side dish.  At the Village Butcher Shoppe, we can leave it plain for you to stuff and we can stuff it with our savory bread stuffing.

Ingredients

Cooking Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.  This roast can also be prepared on the BBQ Grill in warmer climates or during warmer times of the year.
  2. Rub pork crown roast with a mixture of the seasonings, salt and pepper.  If you are using stuffing, start by taking a hard fruit such as an apple and placing it into the center of the roast.  This will act as a plug and keep the stuff from falling through.  Place all of the stuffing on the top portion of the roast creating a nice crown.
  3. Place the roast into the bottom of a roaster with about 1 cup of water.  This will help to moisten during cooking.  Cover the rib tips and stuffing with foil to keep it them from burning during the long cook process.
  4. Place the roast into the oven and cook for 15-20 minutes at 375°F to help sear the outside.  After the outside browns a little, lower the temperature to 350°F and roast until the internal temperature hits 150°F.  Depending on the size of the roast, this should take 2 ½ to 3 hrs.
  5. About 30-45 minutes before the roast is done, remove the foil to allow the stuffing and ribs to brown.
  6. When done, remove the roast from the oven and cover loosely with foil.  Let rest for 30 minutes before cutting..
  7. Serve with your favorite vegetables.  Enjoy!
