Sirloin Steak Roast

A Sirloin Steak Roast (top sirloin butt) is a wonderful way to serve steak to several people without spending a lot of time preparing individual portions.  Preparation is very easy and can be done on the grill or in the oven.

At the Village Butcher Shoppe, we like to season this roast with our Prime Rib Rub and roast it to medium rare on the grill or in the oven.

Ingredients

Cooking Steps

  1. Remove the roast from the refrigerator about an hour to two before you wish to start cooking and placed covered on the stove or counter.  At the same time you should rub the surface with the Prime Rib Rub or your favorite spice mixture.
  2. Preheat the oven or grill to 500°F or its highest setting.
  3. If you have a remote meat thermometer, place it into the center of the roast.
  4. Place the roast into the hot oven or grill and sear the outside for about 10-15 minutes. Once a good crust forms, turn the oven or grill down to 350°F and roast slowly until the internal temperature reaches 130°F -140°F (Medium Rare).  If you are using a charcoal grill you should move this to a cool spot and let it continue to cooking using indirect heat.
  5. Remove from the oven or grill and let rest on the stove for 10 minutes.
  6. Slice and enjoy with boiled potato’s or rice and your favorite vegetable.  If you are skilled, this roast also goes very well with Yorkshire Pudding.
