Deke's Chili

Deke is young and spends a lot of time working or pursuing other interest so he does not have a lot of time to cook.  In fact, he has the local Pizza Store on Speed Dial.

When he does have time to cook, this is one of his easy 30 minute meals that is really very easy to prepare and taste great.

Ingredients

Cooking Steps

Package of Bear Creek ™“Darn Good” Chili Mix.

Box of Kitchen Basics™ Beef or Chicken Stock.  Beef is preferred unless you are using an optional Chicken or Turkey Sausage.

6 oz. Can of Tomato Paste.

[Optionally] Add 1 lb of your favorite Village Butcher Fresh Sausage such as Chorizo or Jamaican Jerk.

  1. If you are using the optional fresh sausage in the recipe, remove it from the casing and brown it first in the pan.  Once the sausage is browned, place on a plate until ready to re-add to the chili mixture.
  2. Following the directions on the package for the fluid, add the box of stock to the pot and 3 cups of water.  Bring it to a boil.
  3. Add the 6 oz. can of tomato paste and stir to blend in.
  4. If you are using the optional sausage browned earlier, re-add it at this point.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and simmer the chili for 30 minutes uncovered.
  6. Serve with fresh corn bread or biscuits and a salad or cut up vegetables.  Enjoy!
